Hello, Brian and I were talking about having a workshop in the backgreens this Sunday 23rd if folk are up for it. There's a couple of things we can work on:-
- a bit work on compost
- path laying
- maybe some tree pruning.
Can start about 1pm for a couple of hours. Who's free and up for it. Let me know by leaving a message below on this blog.
Cheers Greig

Edinburgh Community Backgreens Association has been asked to one of 12 national seed projects. The event will be held on the 10th of September. It would be great if we could take up this request by holding a local food feast at one or more of our community backgreen sites.
I've included…

ECBA are holding our Annual General Meeting to discuss the future of the organisation. We're at an exciting crossroads and decisions made at this meeting will determine what direction we take the community backgreen approach. We want this process to be led by folk from across the sites and would very much appreciate the… Continue Posted by Greig Robertson on June 2, 2011 at 4:24pm 6 Comments 2 Likes
Its going to be really warm tomorrow (Friday). Would anybody like to get together for a wee BBQ in the community green in the evening? say about 6 or 7pmish. It would be a good opportunity to talk over any new wee projects for the group. We can invite folk from the other community backgreens/friends etc.
Please me know by commenting below.
Cheers

Kitchen Composting
I'd be really keen to explore how we can get more folk composting their kitchen biodegradables in the backgreens. I'm meaning anybody who lives around the site, not just folk who have a raised bed. There are over 200 households, I'm sure a good few of them could be encouraged to start using a compost bin in their backgreen. Our group could then make good use of the resulting compost.…

Lawnmower
I've brought a new push lawnmower to the site. I cleaned and oiled the two we had as they were all frozen up. I've taken them to the Depot at Dalmeny Street so they can be used to help do up new sites. The one we've got now is a better model and wider, give it a go.
Propogation & Group Beds
The big beds at the Edina St end are getting sorted out with wooden…

Hello Folks,
Would anyone like to come out and do some backgreen tasks this weekend? I think we have all been out doing things individually, (I've been away most weekends so doing things through the week), and it would be great to get a few of us out at the same time. There's still plenty to do.
The weather is forecast for heavy showers on Saturday, and but only overcast on Sunday, so I was thinking Sunday would be a good day. If the sun peeks out we can have a quick BBQ.…
